NCCSDM – National Conference on Recent Trends in Computer Science and Discrete Mathematics

The Department of Computer Applications, T. John college, conducted the National Conference on Recent Trends in Computer Science and Discrete Mathematics on 27th April 2017. The conference conveners were Dr. Chandrasekar and Dr. Felcy Judith. The aim of the conference was to bring together researchers both in the field of computer science and discrete mathematics. The department received around 45 papers for the conference and after checking for quality and plagiarism 36 papers were selected. The department received papers from the state of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana and also one paper from Libya.

The conference began on an auspicious note with a prayer song rendered melodiously by Ms. Sridevi. The gathering was welcomed by the head of the department Ms. Mohini Bhat. The conference was inaugurated by Dr.Shikha Tiwari, Principal of T. John college. The chief guest for the occasion was Dr.Preethi Nanjundan who has rich experience in the field of academics and industry and has more than 15 publications to her credit. She spoke on the Emerging Trends and laid emphasis on semantic web, machine learning and natural language processing. The conference proceedings were released by the chief guest and the Director of computer applications department Dr. Felcy Judith.

The conference had two tracks – Computer science and Discrete Mathematics. The Computer Science track was chaired by Dr. Suma V.  Research and Incubation Centre head, Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore.  Dr. Suma is very competent and has more than 165 international publications to her credit. Track 2 – Discrete Mathematics was chaired by Dr. Joseph Varghese, Associate Professor, Mathematics Department, Christ University.

Before the commencement of the paper presentation session, the keynote address was delivered by the chairpersons. Dr. Suma .V spoken on Indian IT sector and she had valuable suggestion on the trending fields of research. Dr. Joseph Varghese delivered an interactive session on Cryptography and shared interesting computation tips on mathematics.

9 papers were chosen for presentation in Track 1 and 9 papers were chosen for presentation in Track 2. At the end of each presentation there was a Q & A sessions and constructive feedback was given by the chairperson.

The sessions were followed by valedictory function the track chairpersons expressed their views on the papers presented. The certificates were distributed by the Vice Principal of T,John college Ms. Hemalatha Doddamani. Ms. Hymavathi, faculty member of computer applications department proposed the vote of thanks.
