Daan Utsav celebrated at T John College

Daan Utsav was formerly known as The Joy of Giving Week. The Joy of Giving Week (JGW) is a “festival of philanthropy” that aims to become a part of the Indian ethos, with the Week being celebrated 2nd to 8th October every year, covering Gandhi Jayanti by engaging people through “acts of giving” – money, time, resources and skills – spanning the corporate, NGO and government sectors, schools, colleges and the general public.

The activity Initiated by NSS Volunteers at T. John College, prompted the students of our college to participate in the event with a great enthusiasm. Principal Dr.Shikha Tiwari , Vice principal Dr. Nilanjana Basu and NSS Unit incharge Mr. Arun Kumar R, were the motivators for huge collection of Funds and Clothing from students and staff of all our departments.

Blood Donation Camp was organized on 1st Oct 2015 where students of T John College donated 150 units of blood, volunteer partners Lions Blood Bank and NMHANS Blood Bank, Bangalore.

NSS unit organized a Movie show on 8th Oct 2015 for the Blue – collared staff of T John College in Cine Polis, Meenakshi Mall followed by offering a meal at Mc Donalds Restaurant. The clothing collected from staff and students were presented to all Blue – collared staff of T John College. We would like to Thank Mc Donalds restaurant for joining hands with us in this initiative of “act of giving”.
