Visit to Sion Spiritual Centre

T John College visited SION Spiritual centre home on 18/12/2019 accompanied by their students of the Social Service Club, PG Departments. They were accompanied with the faculty members and the Principal of T John College. They shared a moment of happiness with the elderly people residing in the SION Spiritual centre.

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”

-Mahatma Gandhi

Keeping this quote in the mind, our Social Service club students served elderly people with sweaters and celebrated the season of Christmas by sharing few moments of joy and sweets. They spent a good amount of time with them and enjoyed and learned a lot from their life experiences.

No education is complete without serving people is in need. The Social Service club has always sought to inculcate a sense of service among the students. This visit was an unforgettable lesson for our students because they learnt so more more about the problems of real life, and something about sharing and caring

Visit to Sion Spirituality Centre by M.Com Social Service Club members

Sahana Maria & Akshita SN, students of M.Com I semester, both members of Social Service Club visited the Sion Spirituality Centre in Hosur, on 18th December, 2019.

Their experience in their own words:

“We got an opportunity to take a peek into the lives of the aged in an old age home and spread happiness by distributing Christmas gifts, snack and Christmas cake. It was a blissful experience. The place was a spiritual centre that provides shelter and spiritual and physical support to the aged who have been placed there for various reasons. The faculty conducted games, sung Christmas songs, and performed a dance for them. They enjoyed it a lot. Seeing their eyes light up with happiness was a humbling experience for us. We were inspired by the fact that they grow their own vegetables and fruits in their premises which is used in preparing the meals. We feel blessed to have got a chance to meet them and mingle with them and to know their life stories. We thank the management of T.John College and our Principal Rev Sr. Rose Mary for this lifetime experience.”

The students were accompanied by our Principal, Rev Sr. Rose Mary and the faculty members of T.John College. The T.John College staff whole heatedly contributed money for this charitable event. The cash collected was used to buy sweaters and pullovers for the aged. The Christmas cake was distributed to everyone. It was prepared by our Hotel Management Department and sponsored by management of T.John College.
