FIT INDIA PRESENTATION BY M. COM STUDENTS

FIT India movement is a Government of India initiative to make India a fit nation. AICTE
wanted each college to adopt this and make the students take a pledge in the class.
The Department of Commerce organized a presentation on Fit India Movement. It was
conducted by the M. Com Semester III students Manisha R and Anuradha.
The faculty members and students together took a pledge as a part of the presentation.
“I promise to myself that I will devote time for physical activity and sports
every day and I will encourage my family members and neighbours to be
physically fit and make India a fit nation.”

Guest Lecture for 1st and 3rd semester BHM students

The Department of Hotel Management –T.John College organized a guest talk on 30/08/2019. The speaker for the day was Mr.Tanmay Adhikari, Assistant Front Office Manager from Four Points by Sheraton. Four Points by Sheraton is a brand of hotels targeted towards business travelers and small conventions. It is owned by Starwood Hotels & Resorts, which is a subsidiary of Marriott International. Mr.Tanmay spoke about the “Latest Trends in Hotel Reservation and Technologies” and explained about the various sources of reservation and the drawbacks and benefits. He also spoke about how technologies are used in booking reservations and forecasting the reservations. The session was very interactive and knowledge gaining session for the students.

FOOD EX CULINARY COMPETITION 2019 – BANGALORE

Date: 30-08-2019 & 31-08-2019

A mega culinary event, Food Ex. culinary challenge 2019 was held on 30th & 31st Aug,2019 at BIEC (Bangalore International and Exhibition Center) where many catering colleges from Bangalore and outside of Bangalore had participated including Hotel professionals from five star hotels like Hotel Taj Bangalore.

We, the Department of Hotel management – T.John College, had participated in four Categories that is The BOB challenge (The battle of Biryani hunt for the best Biryani Chefs in the country), plated appetizer (Hot and cold), Petit Fours and three course set menu, five students from BHM dept- Mr. Sagar, Mr.Ravi, Mr. Siddhartha, Mr. Roshan, and Mr. Aadarsh Tiwari.

And in this tough competition we won three silver medals and two bronze medals. The judging panel were of eight top most Chefs from hotel industry to judge the food presentation, namely… chef Imitiyaz qureshi , chef. Nimish Bhatia, chef. Ramasamy Selvaraju, chef. Palani Murugan, chef. Shazia Khan and so on.

It was a great opportunity for our student to learn the tips from top most chefs from the industries and learned how to face the tough challenges.

College centric activity 20/8/2019 Skill Development course on 3D printing Technology

Skill Development Course has been arranged for students of all the departments comes under T. JOHN College .Venue was the BCA lab and Mr. Yashwanth Balan (Assistant Professor, Computer Application Department) conducted the session for the students. The Session started with the introduction to 3D and the basics of 3D printing technology.

The session continued with hands on experience on 3D printing technology with the help of online software “Tinkercad”. Students were guided to create different sets of basic models in the Tinkercad software and explained in detail about the application, the effect of using the technology in the present time. The trainer spoke about the current leading areas where we can apply the 3 D printing technology. the one-hour session was well interactive and highly useful for all the set of students who participated

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO NOVOTEL FOR 7th SEMESTER BHM STUDENTS

Hotel management students of 7th semester BHM had an industrial visit to Hotel NOVOTEL, Bangalore on 26-08-2019 and 27-08-2019. HOTEL NOVOTEL is one of the biggest International chain hotels and is a well known brand with top business hotels across the country. It is owned by the ACCOR group of hotels, providing Upscale, Luxury, Business and Budget hotels in worldwide. Ms. Shristi,  the training manager of Novotel, Bangalore interacted with students regarding career in the Hotel industry. Post the interaction session the training manager took the students around the property and explained the operations of each department. The session was interactive and added a lot of knowledge for the students.

Guest lecturing 24/08/2019 Programming in C

Guest lecturing was arranged for BCA 1st semester, the speaker being, Mr. Ramesh (R&D development Manager Dassault systems). The speaker delivered a powerful session that could possibly help in upgrading the programming concept in C. The session was interactive with the speaker presenting many live examples. The introduction was a few observations about the working procedure of C and implementations and continued with the explanation of C structure array and tokens. After the introduction session, trainer spoke about how to build a powerful career with the help of required programming languages, to attain a career with programming languages. Implementation of latest technologies in different companies proved to be impactful. The trainer spoke about C language in detail. The one-hour session was interactive and highly useful for all the set of students who participated

Guest Lecture for 7th semester BHM students

The Department of Hotel Management –T.John College organized a guest lecture on 24/08/2019. Mrs.Madhumitha guest of the day, who heads the south zone region of 91 Springboard Company. 91 springboard is a vibrant co-working community created for start-ups. She spoke about Importance of Accommodation management in Hospitality Sector/ Industry. she also discussed about various disciplines in Management aspect and how they build an environment by integrating people, place, process and technology. She also shared how Accommodation management works in large offices and hospitality sector too.  It was a very interactive and knowledge gaining session.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO 4R RECYCLING PVT LTD

Date: 22/08/2019

The Department of Commerce organized an Industrial Visit for its M. Com Semester III students on 22nd August 2019.

Ms.Vijayalakshmi Patil, the Assistant Manager Marketing conducted a walk through the shop floor area. She explained the role of the organization and what do they do. She explained the process of how they collect damaged and disposed of electronic devices and generate e-waste without affecting the environment. This is the need of the hour. She talked about of how they reach out to various organization for wastes and get it to the organization. She talked about the kind of legislations required to help them help the society better. It was very eye-opening to see it all and understand the complete set up.

The students were accompanied by Prof. Vineesh Vinay Vedsen, Associate Professor.

GUEST LECTURE AT 4R RECYCLING PVT LTD

The Department of Commerce organized an Industrial Visit for its M. Com Semester III students on 22nd August 2019. 15 students from the class attended the same. A Guest lecture was conducted by Mr Ramanathan the CEO of the organization for the students.

Mr.Ramanathan too was a M. Com by qualification and was happy to meet students from his course. He explained them what is expected from them to succeed in their lives. He talked to them about setting up a start-up. He explained them it was very important first to understand why they need to start a start-up. Rather than how they can set up a start-up. If the first question is clear, the second should follow.

GUEST LECTURER ON BEST PRACTICES IN PUBLIC RELATIONS

The Department of BAJEP organized a guest lecture on the BEST PRACTICES IN PUBLIC RELATIONS. The students of V  semester from the department of COMMERCE  & the students of E-Club participated In the session. The objective of the session was to make the students aware about the intricate roles taken up by a PR executive, the skill set required for becoming a PR and the opportunities in future. The speaker for the day,Mr.Gaurav, Manager with INFOSYS India PVT.LTD., introduced the core concepts in PR, the changing trends of the Industry and subsequently the best practices in the PR Sector. The session proved informative to the students who were actively participating in the activities and were inquisitive in learning about the sector which is opening its doors of opportunity to graduates across all the disciplines.

Guest Lecture for 3rd semester BHM students

The Department of Hotel Management -T.John College organized a guest lecture on 22/08/2019.The speaker for the day was Mr.Deepak Rathinavelu, Territory manager from Brown Forman Pvt.ltd, Bangalore. He addressed our 3rd Semester BHM students and interacted with them in the line of ‘Alcoholic beverages and its classification.”  His knowledge and experience enhanced the students about Alcoholic beverages and also contemporary beverage industries in India. The one hour session was very interactive and useful for the students.

NAL-CSIR (National Aero Space Laboratories)

Industrial visit was arranged for BCA 1st SEM to NAL-CSIR (National Aero Space Laboratories (Old Madras Road, Domlur). The IV gave a new experience to students to realize the aeronautical and space wing of the country. In-depth knowledge was imparted on various aircraft and India’s mission in orbits and witnessed Chandrayan -2 carried vehicle.

Industrial visit proved equally enjoyable and it was a different experience for all.  Mr.Soumya Narayan of NAL guided the visit .Sir, explained  the working procedures of GSLV, PSLV, and Chandrayan Mission with the help of various models that were displayed.

IV started from college by 9am in the morning and ended up by 4pm in the evening. Ms.Subhashini and Mr.Yashwanth accompanied the students.

Pre-placement and Internship talk by Kareer Krafters for 7th semester BHM

T.John College, Department of Hotel Management organized a Pre-placement talk on 21/08/2019 for 7th semester students. The speaker was Mr. Vipul Mehta, Corporate Head of Kareer Krafters India Pvt Ltd. He gave an overview of the International placements and Internship in Germany, France,New Zealand, Canada and PAN Asia. 

Mr. Vipul Mehta set expectations on Job opportunities and requirements expected from the students. The overall session was interactive and engaging. The inputs were very helpful in terms of student’s career.

GUEST LECTURE ON HIGHER STUDIES & HOW TO FACE AN INTERVIEW ON 20th AUGUST, 2019

The Dept. of Computer Applications organized a guest lecture on Career Options and Personality Development was organized on 20th August 2019 by Mr. Lokesh, Prof. MBA Dept, to the MCA students. This Lecture really helped the students understanding the various career options after the undergraduate course. The lecture was interactive. It also helped the students to build a positive attitude and motivated them to achieve high success in life. The lecture was an enlightening experience as a fresher who is looking for his/her dream job. The articulation tips provided by the speaker were helpful to improve the personality. This Lecture was very good to learn global accent. He started with focusing on many aspects of today’s job opportunities and ways to crack them by going in the right direction like

1. Deciding the interest area

2. Acquiring extraordinary Skills in that area.

3. Looking for available jobs.

4. Performing well in the Selection Process.

While motivating and educating the students about the importance of good personality and communication Mr. Lokesh said “One should acquire education with extra skills so that he/she can be differentiated from the crowd easily”. Students actively took part in the talk by providing appropriate feedback and after the Speech he cleared their doubts about the placement process and ways to land in their dream job
