“Moda De Gama Alta 2k19” – PORTFOLIO PRESENTATION- 2019

The Moda De Gama Alta” Portfolio Presentation was organized by the Department of Fashion and Apparel Design, T. John College on 30th March 2019.Moda De Gama Alta” is an event put on by a budding fashion designers of department of Fashion & Apparel Design T John College to showcase their collections. Every year, Fashion & apparel design department puts on an end-of-the-year portfolio presentation to showcase the graduating seniors’ collections that they have been working on all semesters.

“The Moda De Gama Alta is a high fashion,” “It recognized the hard work and dedication of our design students who get to display their creativity and their technical skills that they’ve obtained after 3 long years.” the theme, music selection, props, and even hair and makeup – is conceptualized and implemented by the students. For the pieces in the collection, the designers used different inspirations to create themes in their pieces that make them both unique and able to stand together as a collection. This event is the expression of all the things learned during this wonderful semester: from the right fabric identification, the sewing and drawing techniques, to the study of elite designers.

One of the great things about the show this year is that the designers all have such a wide range of styles, yet are all so great at what they do. To be trendy and stylish one must sometimes experiment with different materials and themes.

The show featured everything from stunning and well-designed eveningwear, bridal collection, to embroidered formal wear, to high end grade menswear, to enhancement of tribal painting, to totally adorable.

  • The show was graced by Eminent personalities, Prof. Dr.Sandhya Ravi- Principal in Nitte School of Fashion Technology & Interior Design, Mr.Chandan Gowda – Fashion Designer and a Celebrity Stylist (Garment Designer), Mr.Mustafa – Actor, Renowned Model & celebrity fitness trainer, Priyanka Preeth – Model and she is Miss North Karnataka  in the year 2016, Miss popular in the year 2017, Miss Hyderabad Queen in the year 2017 along with Dr.Thomas P John, Chairman, T.John group of Institutions, Dr.Shikha Tiwari, Principal, T.John College.
  • The eminent guests judged the show. Prizes for Best Designer won by Ms. Sheik Rukhsar, Best Accessories and Best Theme was won by Ms. Bimasha Kaumadi Rashmisara Munasinghe and Best Props was won by Mr. Suhail K.S. and Best Ornamentation won by Ms. Anjaly P. Nair.

It provided a great learning experience to the students through the vast platform offered.

 

Mock-TED Talks Event organised by School of Marketing

On 29th March 2019, Marketing Specialization students, Department of Management Studies, T.John College had an event named Mock-TED-Talks. The Event is initiated to increase the confidence level and firm speaking capability among the students. The students were given chances to choose their own choice of Brand and Products to talk about. 13 Students participated and delivered the session. The event was organized by Dr.Karpagavalli.G.

Sports Day – MBA and M.Com

The Department of Management Studies, conducted the sports day with high level of enthusiasm and participation from the students on 25th March 2019. It was a day filled with energy, passion and competitiveness, as the participants put in their best, cheered and enthused by an enthralling audience.

The day started off with the volleyball competition. After the initial screening, the finals boiled down to the MBA second Semester (B Section) and MBA fourth semester. The first prize, after an intensive display of attacking games, went to the MBA second semester students. The prize for throw ball (girls) went to the M.Com team. The much fancied finals of the cricket match saw the best from MBA fourth semester locking horns with the best of cricket talent from MBA second semester. The first prize was bagged by MBA second semester.

The day witnessed high octane energy throughout, and turned to be a day to be cherished for a long time.

 

INDUSTRY VISITED: UNIBIC FOODS, INDIA, BENGALURU

The 6th and 4th semester BBA students went on a factory visit to the popular cookies manufacturing unit UNIBIC located off Tumkur road.

The students had a glimpse of the state of the art facility at the factory. They observed that the Unibic cookie factory brought the science of food technology in the art of creating delicious cookies. The production house has the largest integrated cookie manufacturing plant in the country with 5 production lines and a capacity of 30,000 tonnes per year.

The cutting edge technology used by this foods company was wire cut technology, the first of its kind in India and it boasts the usage of rich ingredients to give tasty and quality cookies.

This factory has received certification from global bodies for their technology, exports and quality.

The entire shop floor is a beehive of activity that houses different and sophisticated machines for mixing, dough making and rolling out as many as 30 different types of cookies. Other products include protein bars that are high on nutrition and low on calories which provide a healthier option for the people. The ambience is clean with safety precautions and round the clock monitoring. The wastage is recycled to keep it at a bare minimum. The students also got an insight about the company through a powerful presentation on the company’s origin, description of its facility, achievements and clients.

The noteworthy takeaways for our budding managers to be were the meticulous handling of operations, maintenance of quality standards and intermingling of various production activities that brought about seamless execution.

Industrial visit to Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center

Department of Management studies, T.John College arranged an Industrial visit to Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center (KSNDMC) on 26th March 2019 for IV semester MBA and II semester MBA Sec-A students.

The entire Visit gave a very good insight on the natural disaster precautions and the present climatic conditions in the entire state of Karnataka. The technicality of collecting the data related to climatic conditions, rain calculation and drought are explained to the students.

Students also gained knowledge about hydrological weather conditions, prevention measures from lightening occurrence and the usage of technology for assessing it.

Overall it is a very good learning experience for students. Thanks to the organization KSNDMC for providing us the permission. The visit was organized by Dr.Karpagavalli.G, Asst Prof.MBA Dept. Thanks to the faculty coordinators Dr.Trupti and Dr.Renin who accompanied the students for the visit.

Career Counselling Session – Skill Saathi Campaign

The student welfare committee of T.John College coordinated in arranging a career counselling session for the postgraduate students of MBA and M.Com on 23rd March 2019. The program was delivered by experts from the Art of Living’s Sri Sri Rural Development Program (SSRDP) Trust, a registered Counselling Implementing Organization (CIO) under National Skill Development Corporation.

The session focused on the career pathways based on the student’s aspirations and interest profiles. The session had counselling video screening, post screening interactive session, psychometric tests and question answer sessions. The session was handled by Dr. Vinod and Ms. Preethi from the Art of Living. The session was made interesting with interactions, anecdotes and distribution of special gifts and tool kits for the participants.

The session was well received by the students through their active participation and feedback given at the end of the session.

 

Vote for better India Campaign by NSS Volunteers of T.John College

Vote for better India campaign that is a programme, it works to promote democratic values. It makes voters aware to realize value of their invaluable vote for strengthening democracy.

On 22nd March 2019, a program was conducted by the NSS Unit of T.John College. Campaign has not only been for spreading the awareness to people in locality but also making youth aware to realize the value and importance of their vote. This is more important to make them understand the voting mark on their finger is mark of responsibility towards the nation. Youth are power to the nation and they can make nation powerful. Vote for India works with deep concentration among youth for making them aware to cast their vote as well as to be messenger or volunteer for Vote for India campaign for spreading voter awareness messages. Volunteers went to the nearby village Basavanapura as a group and spread the word about voting from home to home, door to door, shop to shop and person to person. The program was organized by Mr. Arun Kumar.R, NSS Programme Officer, T.John College and accompanied by faculty members Mr. Govind Kumar.B, Mr. Kunal Sodhi and Mr. Viji George.

Art and craft club– trained students with pouch making process in the club; students showed their creativity by making varied shapes and design of pouches. Ornamentation was done for the same.

The theme for this week was TIME LAPSE

Photography club:-It is a photographic technique of taking a sequence of frames at set intervals to record changes that take place slowly over time. When the frames are shown at normal speed the action seems much faster.

Photography club students have taken video of the same and have posted in face book too.

Nature Club – Poster making session on “Waste Management” for students.

This activity aimed at raising awareness and a sense of responsibility among students towards the environment through proper waste management and recycling.

In this session, students presented their creative talent through poster making. Students made attractive pictures on posters and conveyed the message through them on how to ‘Use the natural resources wisely’ and ‘It’s easy being green- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ concept. This activity involved the students to understand the importance of recycling because if we recycle today, we can expect a better tomorrow.

Finance club conducted Mock Stock activity in which all the students played the game of stock trading virtually.

The Debate Club conducted debate session on the topics “Euthenasia / Mercy Killing – should it be made legal”and ” Should colleges have dress code ” as topics of debate on 15th and 22nd March respectively.

NSS Club

The students voiced their views confidently and with logic. It was a fruitful session as students who like debating are very sincere about voicing their thoughts. An improvement can be noticed in their ways of speaking  and expression.

Modeling club had a agenda of preparation for upcoming events.

It was a furtherance of what we did formerly last week. To begin with students were motivated with a brainstorming gathering and usage of props on the ramp was encouraged for the day, after initial trials the mass came up with a formation which was expected to be good and they delivered the same.

Overall it was a spellbound performance & with a huge round of applause we signed off for the day.

In this session we had the activity of testing the communication skills and the listening skills of students . The importance was given to enhance the gap of communication . Students enjoyed the session.

Music Club     

On 22-03-19 (Friday), the students formed different groups and sang different languages songs by taking turns. Later, students also performed solo singing.

Self Defense Club :-

Club was started with basic exercise and followed by advanced exercise. Also with strengthening exercise. Different types of guards were thought and practiced the same.

 

 

 

Faculty Development program –“BLOCK CHAIN TECHNOLOGY”

The Department of computer applications, T.John college, organized a one day Faculty Development  program on “Block chain Technology” on Wednesday 20th March 2019.

Faculties from reputed colleges, corporates participated enthusiastically in this program.

The program was anchored by Mrs.Manjusha Sreekumar, Faculty of CA department and the guests were welcomed by the Mr.Srinivasa Prasad B L – Head of the department. The director of Computer applications department, Dr.Felcy Judith briefed the objectives of the program and introduced the session topics.

Dr.Shikha Tiwari,- Principal, T John College addressed the gathering with a motivational and informative speech.

Key note address by Dr. Hanumanthappa – Chairman , Department of Computer  Science and Applications , Bangalore University   was enlightening and entertaining on the right way regarding BLOCK CHAIN TECHNOLOGY.He discussed the live examples where we frequently use the technology in our day to day to life.

Intially, Mr.Sachin Sood gave a brief introduction about the Project Management of India, Bangalore Chapter  and Session by Mr.Tanish Mathur, Vice president –Special programs, Project Management of India, Bangalore chapte explained the “Block chain technology” with details of its applications and examples .It was a highly interactive session.

Post lunch, started with  Dr.P Sagaya Auerlia, Professor – Dept of Computer Applications, Christ University. Dr.P Sagaya explained the Block chain technology with a informative videos and thought provoking examples of block chain technology. Her session  was successful in conveying the subject in a convincing manner .

The program concluded with valedictory function and Vote of Thanks  by  Ms.Subhashini, faculty of Computer Applications.

 

 

Students of B.Com department organized a two day intra college sports event, “Caper”

The students of B.Com department organized a two day intra college sports event, “Caper” : a two day sports extravaganza which saw an overwhelming participation of more than 475 students from all the colleges across T. John Group of Institutions. The competition included an array of individual as well as team events. The participants braved the scorching heat and the blazing sun and participated with full sportsman spirit.

The theme of the intra college event was to win the coveted championship trophy by securing points for winning each event.

The championship trophy was won by T. John College with a winning total of 180 points.

It was a nail biting two day event with participants showcasing their talents and leadership skills. There was excellent enthusiasm and support from the audience which cheered for the winners and runners up alike.

 

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS

T John College celebrated International Women’s day on March 8th 2019 .The celebrations proved justice to the theme of this year’s women’s day “Think Equal, Build smart, Innovate for change”. This time, focus was on the talent of in-house resources. The program started with an introductory speech by Ms.Manjusha, Women’s Cell co-ordinator. Later Tazkiya, student of BCA department anchored the program and it started with a group song by girls of Fashion and apparel design.

The next in line was a spectacular dance performance by girls of BCA (Nandini and Sanika) that depicted the intensity of relationships and how viligilent girls has to be while picking up relations. A video displaying the success of an entrepreneur Ms. Chetna Gala Sinha was a big hit among audience. A talk by Nikitha of FAD was the major highlight of the day. Her confidence level and content of the talk was much appreciated. Principal Dr.Shika Tiwari delivered a motivating speech and rendered a poem on daughter that left the audience emotional. The program ended on a high note with cutting the cake.

TJC – Department of Management Studies – Alumni Pep – talk

On 2nd March 2019, Department of management studies organized an alumni pep talk for MBA and M.Com students. Ms. Martina – MBA Alumni (2016-2018 batch) visited college to address juniors on

“Transformation from student life to corporate life”. She shared very important tips on how students should develop that adaptability to be prepared to work in corporate. She is currently working as Research Analyst in Thomson Reuters. There were many take aways from the session and students also clarified their doubts on applying for positions, interview clearing techniques etc.

It was indeed a great session.

 

TJC – Department of Management Studies – Alumni Pep – talk

On 2nd March 2019, Department of management studies organized an alumni pep talk for MBA and M.Com students. Ms. Nithya – M.Com Alumni (2016-2018 batch) visited college to address juniors on

“Survival instinct in corporate” She shared her personal experience of how difficult it will be to get an interview call from the companies, how to design resume, shared tips on cracking GDs and what all preparations are required for getting into the corporate world. Also she mainly focused on whats the right attitude to be carried while being in corporate, how to grab new opportunities, shared learnings from her failures which was actually a great take away for students so as to avoid committing those mistakes while they are applying for jobs / while being in the corporate.

It was indeed a great learning overall for students.
