VTU Bengaluru South Zone Inter Collegiate Table Tennis Tournament (Men &Women) 2017-18


T. John Institute of Technology organised VTU Bengaluru South Zone Inter Collegiate Table Tennis tournament (Men & Women) 2017 on 28-08-2017.
The tournament was inaugurated by Ms. Aishwarya N, National Player- Table Tennis, Bengaluru, and Mr. K.Purnachandra, Regional Director, VTU-Bengaluru South Zone, Physical Education Director, RNSIT, Bengaluru.
There were about 20 teams from different colleges who took participation in the tournament. The program was initiated with an invocation song by Ms.Sharanya of 5th Semester Computer Science & Engineering department. Later, welcome speech by Ms. Roopashree Assistant Professor, Department of CSE,TJIT. A brief introduction about the Guest was given.
Ms. Aishwarya N and Mr K.Purnachandra gave an inspirational speech to the gathering. Dr. H N Thippeswamy, Principal, T. John Institute of Technology also gave motivational speech to the participants.
The inauguration function concluded with Honouring the Chief Guest and Guest of honor.
All teams had a tough competition and finally R V College of Engineering won the tournament and RNSIT Bangalore became the runners from Men’s team. From Women’s team RNSIT won the tournament and R V College of Engineering became the runners. Dr H N Thippeswamy , Principal, TJIT appreciated Mr Govind Kumar B Physical Education Director, Dr Mahesh T R, Prof. Ms Roopashree, Ms Ashwini, Ms. Shridevi and student co-ordinators of Computer Science & Engineering department for their effort in organizing the event as well as in making it a grand success.

First Runner Up in Metro Life Deccan Herald Fashion Show -2017 (South Zone)

Department of Fashion & Apparel Design students participated in South zone, Metro life Deccan Herald Fashion show- 2017 held on 26-8-2017 at NMKRV Women’s College Bangalore and won second prize. The participants were Ms.Ruksar, Ms.Ansumala, Ms.Unnimaya, Ms.K Hasini, Ms.Riya, Ms.T.Thiyomi, Ms.Bimasha, Mr.Akash, Mr.Sanjay & Mr.Sajal  The theme was ”MYSTIQUE FASHION ” – Recreating the feeling of wonder and awe in the natural world , and the excitement and impressions . The collection was unique, exquisite and creating the mystical world. The theme depicted simplistic view of the world, and an eagerness to embrace ancient frescoes of Kerala. All these garments are exclusively hand painted & stitched by students. A rare combination of culture and tradition mix with modernity. These great masterpieces are reproduced giving new forms & drapes of elegance depicting heritage and tradition. A strong palette with a wide range of energetic colors balanced by high pastel tones and a solid base of dark shades.

The second prize went to T John College for a collection inspired by the ancient frescoes of Kerala, off-white hand-stitched garments were beautifully decorated with vibrant hand –painted designs and these were complemented by exotic headgear and huge props that stayed true to the theme chosen. Innovative concepts, extravagant outfits, eclectic designs and oodles of attitude combined together in a spectacular medley that saw colleges engaged in battle of style.

Data Platform Summit 2017 – Asia’s largest Data & Analytics Conference

15 students of BCA, T. John College had the opportunity to attend Data Platform Summit 2017, the largest and the only Data Platform Conference in Asia focussing on Microsoft Data Technologies – a full 3 day conference (17/8/2017 to 19/8/2017) with more than 200+ Breakout Sessions, Open-Talks & Chalk-Talks and deep dive pre-con sessions on SQL Server, BI & Analytics, Cloud, Big Data & related technologies. This was a unique conference comprised with multiple tracks on Database Administration, Database Development, Business Intelligence, and Cloud & Big Data. The sessions scaled out on knowledge level from 200 through 500 from the SQL experts around the globe. The conference was for the SQL Server community to learn new skills and technologies and enhance existing skills. The 4 day conference featured expert sessions from Industry leaders & SQL Experts from the community. The conference also featured MCMs, MVPs and Microsoft Experts. Hundreds of attendees had networking opportunities within themselves and with Sponsors and Exhibitors.

DPS 2017 – the only Data/Analytics event in Asia where SQL Product Team Members flew down from Redmond to deliver advanced sessions on latest technologies. Apart from Program Managers & Data Architects, the conference witnessed full participation from SQL CAT & TIGER team of Microsoft (Redmond).

BHM- FRESHERS DAY-2017

The Fresher Day of the BHM- I semester students were conducted by the senior students in the basement of the church premises on 19th August 2017. The venue was nicely decorated with a tribal theme. The program started at 9:30 AM. The fresher was introduced and exhibited their talents. Everyone enjoyed the event and was followed by a lunch.

RGUHS – Inter collegiate Chess Tournament at T. John College of Nursing

RGUHS –Inter collegiate Chess Tournament, Bengaluru  Zone, 2017-2018 was hosted by T John College of Nursing, Bengaluru on 18th and 19th, August, 2017.Mr. Suman, National Best Physique Athelete and an Alumni of T John Group was the chief guest. Students from various Medical, Dental, pharmacy & Nursing colleges participated in the tournament. Bangalore Medical college won the Trophy as Winners for Inter-collegiate Chess Tournament, Bengaluru zone,2017-18-Men & Women and the Runner up for Men was from Krishnadevarya College and Women from Dayananda Sagar Dental College. The programme was successful.

‘Brand India’ – Poster Challenge hosted by Skill Development Centre, T John College

On the 16th of August 2017, commemorating the 71st Independence Day of India, the students of T John College participated in the Brand India Poster making challenge. The aim of this event was to create awareness amongest the students about the various Indians who in the last 100 years have contributed towards making India known to the world. The students across all courses between the 1st and 5th semesters participated with a lot of enthusiasm. The Skill Development Centre received 30 entries and the same were exhibited for all the students and teachers to view and experience. A formal inauguration was conducted by the Principal, Dr. Shikha Tiwari after which it was open to all.These posters covered people from all walks of life – freedom fighters, national leaders, businessmen, painters, sports personalities, singers and musicians, philosophers and spiritual leaders. The exhibition saw vibrant colors with special focus on India’s tricolor. The posters were also judged and there were overall 4 declared winners with 4 posters receiving consolation prizes as well. The prize distribution will happen on the 29th August 2017 during the next chapter of the Independence month, ‘Lead India’.

India observed its 70th Independence Day on the 15th of August, 2017. While the Prime Minister of the nation, from the ramparts of the Red Fort, addressed the countrymen across the 29 states – organizations and educational institutions all over celebrated the day at their premises in memory of the land’s freedom fighters, culture, cultural diversity and other tenets of national integration.

One such celebration was witnessed at T. John College, Bengaluru. Students, Teaching Faculty, and Non-teaching staff assembled at the college square and joined together in hoisting the flag, as they sang the National Anthem in coordination. This was followed by a 2 minutes address from the Principal of the institution, Dr. Shikha Tiwari. In her speech for the event, she threw light on the hope for a better India, and laid emphasis on how much of importance that members of the college, who formed the youth of the nation, played in PM Modi’s brand of India. Also present on the occasion were Dr. Nilanjana Basu, Executive Director of the MBA Department and Ms. Hemalatha Dodamane, Vice Principal, T. John College. The event was compared by Asst. Prof. Sunitha from the BBA department at college.

There was a variety of cultural display in form of songs and dance, from the enthusiastic students. The Culturals’ Club members displayed a song and dance sequence of patriotic genre, which was followed by a similar display of performance by first semester students of the BA(JEP) course. Apart from such festivities, the MBA department also hosted an art exhibition of works made by students from all over the campus, with the major theme of “Personalities in Making of Brand India”.

The day’s activities concluded with the commencement of Sports competitions. The overnight rains proved no damper to any such plans. Mr. Govind Kumar, Physical Training Instructor at college, went ahead with hosting of competitions like Shotput, Javelin Throw, etc. A jubilant student winner from the BHM department who won two places at the Sports competitions said, “I am feeling very happy and proud. But I’m also hungry, so I will now head to the Food section where they are serving sumptuous Uppid and Kesari Bath”. With the clean plates of the popularly liked food, the celebrations of the country’s 70thIndependence Day at college came to an end.

Hearty Congratulations to Ms. Poornima

Ms. Poornima from 3rd SEM BE (Electronics and Communication Engineering) of T. John Institute of Technology has given one more diamond to the achievements crown of college. She stood as a runner up in the “Inter Collegiate Table tennis Tournament”conducted by IBS College, Bangalore on 13/08/2017.

Ethnic Day Celebration – TIMS

Ours, as everyone knows, is a multi-religious, multi-lingual and multi-cultural country. T. John Institute of Management & Science (TIMS) organized Ethnic Day on August 12, 2017 to celebrate the diversity of vibrant and colourful India.

The students of TIMS from different batches exhibited different states and their tradition. There was a Slice of Kerala, a bit of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and northern States as well. Depicting the cultures and traditions of respective States, students dressed in traditional attires, displayed the traditional clothes, dances, famous places in those states through videos, charts, drawings, rangoli etc. and also arranged traditional food items at different stalls at the TIMS as part of the Ethnic Day celebrations here on Saturday.

In the afternoon, there were on stage events, which started with the invocation followed by Welcome address by Prof. Swarnalatha HOD, TIMS and Prof. Shijimol E. A., Principal TIMS. The principal, TIMS highlighted the importance of ethnic day celebration in student’s life  as it  promote universal brotherhood and help students understand the cultures and traditions of different States. Later, the students represented traditional dance shows, traditional songs showcasing the art and culture of different States. In the last there was Ramp walk by students in their ethic attire.

In the last, B.Com Vth semester was declared as the winner for the best exhibition (Represented Tamilnadu) and BBA Ist  semester  (Represented Kerala) as runner up. Mr. Rafaah  Abdur Rahman from B.Com Vth semester and Ms. Vasudha S Naik from B.Com IIIrd semester were selected as Mr. Ethnic and Ms. Ethnic respectively.

Industrial Visit to SOS Children’s Village, Bangalore

On 12th August 2017, the students of M.Com III semester, T. John College, had been to SOS Children’s Village, Hulimavu. Mr. Madhusudan Rao, Village Director made it a great learning experience for our students with the help of his team.

The SOS Village in Bangalore was established in 1990. Their work in Bangalore revolves around supporting local children and families. The total number of children under their care at present is 181. These children reside in 16 Family Homes, where they are nurtured by 14 SOS mothers, four mothers Trainees and one Aunt. All the children at SOSCV India are enrolled in formal schools and even attend college for their higher education. All festivals of National and International importance are celebrated with great enthusiasm at SOS India. This helps inculcate in children the value of togetherness in a family. Apart from this, various activities are also organized often for mothers and children to have their own bonding time. In addition, regular medical camps are also organized to keep a check on the health of children.

The students were shown around the village and had the great fortune to visit the family homes and interact with the children and their foster mothers. They were given an insight about the functioning of the village and were explained how the educational, medical and other requirements of the children are taken care of.

The students of M.Com III organized a team building activity for the SOS children that included a group song and a solo dance performance which brought a lot of joy to those children. A drawing completion was organized in which all the children participated. Our M.Com students had made handmade eco friendly bags in which were packed some goodies along with basic requirements for the drawing competition, such as a box of wax crayons, pencils, erasers and sharpeners. Our students went back home with fond memories and the satisfaction of bringing smiles on the faces of the children in SOS.

The visit was organized by Prof. Sucharita Banerjee and students were accompanied by Prof. Veena Anand, Prof. R.V. Lokesh, Dr. Nilanjana Basu, Prof. Gopan G.S and Prof. Sweta Shivkumar.

Commemoration of 75th year of Quit India Movement and 70th Year of India’s Independence

T. John Institute of Management and Science organized one day program on 9th August 2017 to commemorate 2017 year as 75th Year of Quit India movement and 70th Year of India’s Independence. The program is conducted mainly to sensitize the students towards freedom struggle and Quit India movement which led to securing of India’s Independence so that they know the strength in Unity and which helps in creation of new India.

All the students and staff both teaching and non-teaching pledge for ‘Do and will do’ as stated by our respected Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi to build a corruption, malnutrition and poverty free country and also to improve the quality of education, employment and women’s rights.We also conducted Quiz to students of different classes on Quit India Movement and India’s freedom struggle.

Pledge for a “New India” by T John College

On the 9th August 2017, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the “Quit India Movement”, all students of T John College participated in an assembly was called for the same. Independence Day this year is slated to be celebrated as “Resolution day” under the banner of the program “Sankalp Se Siddhi”. In lines with this our students and all teaching as well as non-teaching staff members took a pledge to ensure that going forward our actions will ensure that India becomes poverty free, corruption free, terrorism free, communalism free, casteism free and above all, a cleancountry. The event began with a small talk on the Quit India movement to refresh the memories of all participants regarding the sacrifices made by thousands of people in 1942. Subsequently, the pledge taking ceremony was conducted by the Principal of T John College, Dr. Shikha Tiwari. All present recited the pledge in unison with a lot of enthusiasm and fervor. The Faculty members of the Management Studies Department concluded the session with a soulful rendition of “VandeMataram”.

Mr. Gyanchand Marmagya addresses students in TJC

Undergraduate students of T. John College had a golden opportunity on the August 7th, 2017 in the campus premises. An engineer by education, an industrialist by profession and an author by passion, Mr. GyanchandMarmagya paid a visit to deliver a lecture to all the students.

On the occasion, present were Dr.Shikha Tiwari, Principal of T. John College and Hindi professor, Asst. Prof. Arvind Kumar Gupta. An ode of introduction to Mr. Marmagya’s works of literature and subsequent felicitations and award was presented by Ms. Riya Patel, who is a student from the BBA Department. Further, Dr.Shikha Tiwari presented few words of appreciation towards Mr. Marmagya’s initiative and gesture to address the students. Some of his works are also prescribed in the Bangalore University syllabus that the students have as a part of their coursework.

In this address to the students, Mr. Marmagya compiled many anecdotes from his life and popular fables that he felt would provide fodder to the development of the students as the nation’s youth. He also emphasized on the importance of “Bhasha” or language in a civil society.

He concluded his message with descriptions of his certain works, the significance of the same, as well as his work-process towards creating them. These works are the same as is prescribed in the students’ coursework. And so, all students found the interaction very productive in nature.

Swachh Bharat Abhayaan by BHM students

The Students of BHM Department took part in Swachh Bharat on 6th of August 2017 initiative organized by Crowne Plaza and The Paul hotel along with the Professional Housekeeper’s association. The venue was Domlur Govt. High School and its premises. There were lot of hoteliers and students from many BHM colleges in Bengaluru. The initiative helped them learn the concept of Swachh Bharat and the importance of a clean and hygienic environment.
