CSE Students, TJIT won Gold Medal award at the 25thChapter Convention on Quality Concepts (CCQC 2016)

The students from the department of Computer Science & Engineering have bagged the gold medal at the 25th Chapter Convention on Quality Concepts (CCQC 2016) under the category of Kaizen Display. Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), Bengaluru Chapter organized 25th Chapter Convention on Quality Concepts (CCQC 2016 ) on 23rd October, 2016 at T John Institute of Technology , Bengaluru. QCFI is recognized as the Institution representing the Quality Circle Movement in India and has represented the country in several International Forums.

The Kaizen display category consisted of 3 kaizens per team. The following kaizens were displayed which were lead by Prof, Sejal N, Prof. Roopashree S and Prof. Ashwini Patil, Assistant Professors, Department of CSE, TJIT.

1) “Sea Water Farming” presented by Ms. Suchithra S, Ms.Vijayashree V, Ms. Suman Ranganath and Ms. Shabreen Taj.

2) “Monitoring and Controlling Home devices for smart Living” presented by Ms. Vijayashree M R, Ms. Punita A and Ms. Aishwarya Gowda H B

3) “Stress Management using M- Health application” presented by Ms.Nandini M, Ms. Rakshi and Ms. Monica Sneha.

Intercollegiate Technical Event “AVISHKAR-2016” Organized By ECE/TCE TJIT

The department of ECE/TCE, students’ club ECHELONS organized and conducted an intercollegiate technical event “AVISHKAR-2016” on 21st & 22nd of Oct 2016. The inaugural ceremony was on 21st Oct 2016 at 9:30 am in TJGI Auditorium. Mr. Jai Merson Francis, Alumnus of ECE department (2008-2012 batch) was invited as the Chief Guest. He is currently working as a Senior Engineer in Wolken Software, Bangalore. The program started with the welcome address by our HOD, Dr. Arun Vikas Singh. Mr. Jai shared his experience on how the corporate companies work and stressed about the importance of academic percentage and discipline. His speech motivated and inspired the students. The presidential address was given by Dr. H. N. Thippeswamy, Principal, TJIT. As a token of encouragement to the students, trophy was given to students with FCD. The students showcased the video directed by them “Trans-ition Through Education”. This short-film has been submitted for a national level competition for the cause of education. Mr. Vysak of 5th sem, delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of ECHELONS club.

The students from various colleges such as APS College of Engineering, Oxford College of Engineering, CMRIT, New Horizon, KNSIT and students of our college participated in various events such as paper presentation, Quiz, debugging, Adv. Selfie, Treasure hunt, NFS most wanted, Mini-militia, Mehandi and Nail Art. The winners were awarded cash prizes and trophies. On the following day, students showcased their cultural talents. Alumni meet was arranged on 22nd Oct 2016 at 11am in Room no: 230 and our HOD addressed the alumni.

CSE Students, TJIT won 2nd Prize at KAGADA-2016 13th National Student Conference organized by IEEE UVCE, Bengaluru

On 21st October 2016, Kagada -2016, the 13th National Students Conference was organized in Connection with IEEE Bangalore Section by University Visvevaraya College of Engineering, Bengaluru. Thirteen students in four teams namely Ms. Vijayashree M R, Ms. Punita A, Ms. Aishwarya Gowda H B, Ms. Aishwarya A, Ms. Archana M, Ms. Megha M, Ms. Anushree K U, Ms. Anaswara Elizabeth, Ms. Lisna C H, Ms.Lalitha M, Ms. Rakshitha Gowda, Ms. Nandini M, Ms. Monica Sneha from the department of Computer Science and Engineering, TJIT took active participation in the poster presentation under the guidance of Prof. Sejal N and Prof. Ashwini Patil , the faculties of CSE Department.

The topics presented were “Monitoring and Controlling Home devices for smart Living”, “Low cost INDOOR Localization system for energy sustainability in smart building”, “Performance Evaluation of Resource Management in Cloud Computing”, “Stress Management using M- Health application”. There were more than 25 teams across the nation who took active participation in the poster presentation. The topic titled “Monitoring and Controlling Home devices for smart Living” won the second place along with the cash price.


The 17th October – turned to be the most awaited day, this odd semester of 2016 at the Department of Languages, T. John College. With weeks of work and preparations, The one-day National Conference on ‘Narratives’, Kadambari 2016 had finally come to light.

The list of dignitaries at the conference provided platform to some of the most prominent and celebrated personalities in the literature scene of India. The event saw pan-India presence from litterateurs, academicians, students and enthusiasts.

A chief guest, who needs no introduction, was Ms. Kavita Kane who graced the occasion with her presence. Her address to the audience dealt on the topic of ‘Mythical Narratives’ combined with personal experiences from phases of life during the time, that she penned her Bestsellers, Karna’s Wife,Sita’s sister etc.T. John Group of Institutions Chairman, Dr. Thomas P. John enlightened the audience with his presence and address at the conference.

T. John College Principal, Dr. Shikha Tiwari laid emphasis on the origins of Narratives from Sanskrit literature, which provided a new dimension to the discussion; she also declared the literary conference open, after one of the conference conveners, Dr. Panchali Mukherjee deliberated on the concept note of the Kadambari 2016.

Dr. Aninda Bhattacharya, Research Scientist, at GE, Bengaluru provided many a fact and insight into the world of Science Fiction, from the oldest origins of the same being found in British literature to the cult pop figures that the Sci-Fi has been time-travelled to, in the modern day.

Kannada Sahithya Akademi Awardee, Mr. Vasudhendra celebrated author and writer and Kannada n contemporary Kannada literature provided the audience with different narrative styles and techniques that a story writer could employ to create an engaging and liked piece of work. Dr. Yogananda Rao, a senior academician, from Bengaluru, deliberated on the expanse and scope that detective narratives have had, and continues to have over decades the same popularity that works of Conan Doyle and likes have showcased.

After the panel discussion, amongst the aforementioned plenary speakers on the occasion, and a satisfying break for lunch, the conference then moved on to its most awaited part. Parallel paper presentation sessions began, with a myriad of topics, ideas being deliberated in and around the scope of Narratives in Literature, Psychology, Journalism, Advertising, etc. A total of 27 abstracts and papers were presented.

The conference then saw an end with one of the conference conveners, Ms. Suraiya Banu Shanawaz proposing the valedictory address to all participants. The Overall arrangements were coordinated by Ms.uma gopal and Ms. Pavitra r , supported by Renjitha k and Mr.ArvindKumar . The convenors of the conference were Ms. Suraiya Banu Shanawaz , Dr. Panchali Mukherjee,Ms. Bovina Sunath.

TJC Gandhi Jayanthi 2016 -Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

On the 2nd of October, student and staff members of T. John College undertook a campaign rally in observance of Gandhi Jayanthi with the agenda and theme of “Swachh Bharath Abhiyan”.
Bangalore based social activist Mrs. Pavitra Jatin managed the rally’s preparations, right from the inception of the idea, to its execution on 2nd October, 2016.
T. John College Principal Dr.Shikha Tiwari and Vice Principal Mrs. Hemalatha Dodamani also joined student and staff members into rallying for the noble cause. Assistant Professor Arun Kumar along with a team of 20 faculty members helped manage the arrangements for the campaign. Initiated at points of Gottigere and Arekere in South Bengaluru, the rally met its conclusion at Hulimavu, South Bengaluru. Filling the air with motivating slogans, T. Johnites managed to catch attention of all public presence on road, into a thought-provoking 147th Gandhi Jayanthi (147th Birth Anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi) in India.
With Bengaluru police’s protection and student’s ever-lasting enthusiasm towards to cause of a clean and green India turned the event into mega success. The productive weekend ended with refreshments for all participating members of the campaigning rally.The event is part of the NSS cell of the college.
