World Pharmacist Day-TJCP

T. John College of pharmacy celebrated World Pharmacist Day on 24th September, 2016. The theme for this year is “Pharmacist Caring for you”. The Chief Guest was Mr.Mohammed Mujawar, Ex-Navy Aircraft Engineer of the Indian Navy presently working as GSD Supervisor, Air India SATS.

Mr.Mujawar spoke about aquatic creatures used in medicines and also encouraged students to excel in their own field.

Debate & Quiz competition were also held , the debate topic was ‘Is big Pharma to blame for high drug price’.

Later the programme concluded with the distribution of prizes.

RGUHS Bangalore Zone Inter-Collegiate Chess Tournament For Men And Women 2016

RGUHS BANGALORE ZONE INTER-COLLEGIATE CHESS TOURNAMENT FOR MEN AND WOMEN 2016 was held on 22nd September, 2016 at T.John College of Nursing, organized by the department of Physical Education and Sports, The tournament were inaugurated by the Mr. Thippeswamy H N (principal) T John Institute of Technology, Mrs. Gladish George (Principal) T John College of Nursing, Mr.Govinda Kumar, (Physical Education Director), TJGI. 14 teams took part in the Chess Tournament.

The event was held at the spacious Auditorium TJGI. Matches were judged by well experienced umpires. The event ended by prize distribution ceremony felicitated by Mr. N A Nagendra Prasad (Chess Arbiter, & International Player).


For men:

• Runners: Krishnadevaraya College of Dental sciences & Hospitals, Bangalore

For women:

• Winner: Dayananda Sagar College of Dental Sciences , Bangalore

• Runners: Govt. Dental College & Research Institute, Bangalore

TIMS Orientation Programme for I MBA Students

The Orientation Programme for I Semester MBA Students was held on 19th Sept 2016. The programme started off with the Invocation song by the senior students Archana and Megha Joseph, followed by lighting of the lamp by Principal and HOD, TIMS and new students . Dr. Bijoy Mishra, Principal TIMS addressed the gathering and motivated the students with his thoughts on the meaning of true education, having a dream and necessity to formulate plans to achieve it. Respected HOD of TIMS inspired the new students with her speech emphasizing the need to follow the guidelines given by the TIMS faculty from time to time to excel in their career.

Prof.R.V.Naveenan, the program Coordinator of MBA, explained the students about the various rules and regulations of TIMS and Bangalore University to the students. The Orientation Program also included session on usage of Library and other facilities in TIMS. Following this, The Club Coordinator and other club leads explained the Road map of their respective club and the functioning of club in TIMS. The Afternoon session included the presentation by subject faculties namely Dr.Madeshwaran, Prof.Shijimol, Prof.R.V.Naveenan, Prof. A. Sakthivel, Prof. Debasmitha, Prof. Swarnalatha and Prof.Rajni Gupta. The above mentioned staffs explained the syllabus of the subjects Economic For Managers, Organizational Behavior, Accounting For Managers, Statistics For Managers, Marketing For Customer Value, Business and Industry, Communication Skill respectively and have explained the pedagogy adopted for effective delivery of subject. The session ended with a presentation on placements by the Placement Officer, Prof.Rohin Bhatnagar.

Orientation Program For MBA I Semester Students Of T.John College

The orientation program for the new batch of first semester MBA students of T.John College started from 19th September 2016. The five day long rigorous and meticulously planned orientation program will expose the new batch of management students to the vagaries of the new business era and tools to meet it.

First part of day one witnessed the inauguration, which signalled the starting off orientation program and the kick off to the new semester. The chief guest for the program was Prof. Rakesh Godhwani, Adjunct Faculty at IIM –B. The chief guest casted a magic spell on the audience with his awe inspiring talk – with focus on skills required to succeed and be happy in a competitive environment. Dr. Shikha Tiwari, Principal, T.John College, addressed the new batch and gave a motivational talk, filled with anecdotes. The MBA Executive Director, Dr. Nilanjana Basu, welcomed all the students and parents. Post lunch there was presentation on rules and policies of college; and various curricular and extra-curricular activities. The day concluded with a campus tour.

Day two had a yoga session, followed by a session on managing stress. The session was lead by Ms. Gouri R Nair and her team from Art of Living. Post lunch session was reserved for ice breaking sessions and team building sessions. Day three and four is apportioned for leadership session and industrial visits. The days will also witness various other sessions from resourceful faculty members.

FDP on Innovative Techniques of Management Teaching

TIMS organized a 1-Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Innovative Techniques of Management Teaching” on 15/09/2016. The programme started with the lightning of lamp by the Guest Speaker of the day Dr. R. Srinivasan, Professor, IIM Bangalore along with Dr. Bijoy Mishra, Principal and Prof. Shijimol. E. A, Head of the Department. Dr. Bijoy Mishra, welcomed the Guest Speaker of the day and the delegates gathered to attend the FDP.

By recognizing the need of the present day teaching in management education, the FDP was divided into three sessions namely; Case Study Method of Teaching, Activity Based Study with Blended MOOCs and Personal & Professional requirement to enhance effectiveness as a teacher.

The first session on Case Study Method of Teaching, Dr. R. Srinivasan discussed about how learning is happening in Child hood and how the leaning can be successfully achieved in the adulthood. He narrated that the effective learning can happen through four processes such as Concrete Experience, Reflective Observation, Abstract conceptualization and Active Experimentation. Prof. Srinivasan also stressed about developing the skills like data collection, data organization, inference and judgment. The second session engaged by Dr.P. C Narayan, Prof. Finance & Accounting, IIM Bangalore, on Activity Based study with Blended MOOCs(Massive Open Online Courses). He explained about the inception of MOOCs by IIMB and the success of it for the past two years. Prof. Narayan demonstrated about how exactly he conducts classes with Videos, discussions and discussion forum and shared the feedback from the students who have enrolled from all over the world. The session gave insights about how can faculty member can utilize the online resources as well as own resources to implement blended MOOCs in the class room.

In the Third session, Dr. Elizabeth Jasmine Dr. Elizabeth, Principal & Associate Professor, IIPR, Bangalore, discussed about Personal and Professional requirement to enhance effectiveness as a teacher. She divided the session in to three parts such as Personal Requirements of a Teacher, Professional Requirements of a Teacher and Strategies for successful teaching. She also gave an opportunity to the participants to understand the locus of control and participate in an activity. Prof. Shijimol, HOD, TIMS presented the conclusion of the FDP and Prof. Naveenan. R extended the Vote of thanks. Participants appreciated about the usefulness of the programme and the efforts made by TIMS to conduct the FDP.

TIMS extend thanks to the Chairman, Principals of TJGI, Administrator and the Principals/ Directors of participating colleges for the successful conduct of FDP on Innovative Techniques of Management teaching.

Teacher’s day Celebration in TIMS

The students of TIMS celebrated Teacher’s Day on 6/9/2016. The day started with Principal motivational speech. TIMS Principal honoured faculties (namely; Swarnalata, Shjimol, Debasmita, saritha, Sumanth) by giving the appreciation letter for their valuable contribution in achieving 100% first class results in MBA 3rd semester. Principal of TIMS congratulated MBA students for their 100% first class results.

This result was a milestone in TIMS. The students like Archana, chaitra, Lalith, Arshiya represented their class by expressing their love and respect towards the teachers on this occasion by giving speech. The students organized the function with distribution of cake and sweets to the teachers. They also arranged few games for teachers. The function concluded with the vote of thanks by the HOD, Shijimol. The overall program was well organized.
