Christmas celebration in T.John College

T.John College had a gala christmas celebration on 22nd December 2014 held in the college lawns.

The event began on a spiritual note with a prayer service and motivational talk given to the gathering by Fr.Jerry Kurian,the Vicar general of the St.Ignatius Jacobite Church as well as the Head of Department of Communication, UTC, Bangalore.In his address he highlighted the need to perceive,to emphasise on the need to change from powerful and powerless to power us and to rise above the ordinary.

Dr.Thomas P.John,Chairman,T.John Group of Institutions spoke about Christmas moving on from beyond the concept of a festival to a time of giving.He congragulated the Principal Dr.Shika Tiwari for organising the programme meticulously.He articulated the need to imbibe these values and expresssed his happiness in having children from Sneha Sadan Boy’s home,Arekere amidst the gathering.

Wg. Cdr(Retd)David Yohan wished the gathering and goaded them to follow the message of Christmas in letter and spirit.

The cultural programme kicked of with a bilingual carol by the staff and students of TJIT.

Dressed up in National Public School put up a very vibrant show and enacted the nativity scene.The audience were delighted with their performance.Ms Monica from T.John College belted out a solo song.This was followed by a group carol from TIMS,they also had loads of gifts given away to those who answered their Christmas related questions.

The entry of not one but two Santas delighted one and all.But the highlight of the day was a stellar performance put up by the boys from Sneha sadan who stole the thunder from everybody with their acrobatic dance and movements.The audience were completely mesmerised by their act.Sneha Sadan is a home for abandoned children situated in Arakere,started with the noble mission to provide home,education,human love and care.The children were invited by the college in keeping with the true spirit of Christmas.Gift hampers with customised bags designed by the students were given to these children at the hands of Father Jerry,Chairman,Wg.Cdr(Retd) David Yohan and Mrs Florence Yohan. The cultural programme ended with carols by T.John College of Nursing and a dance performance by the MBA students of TJC .

Dr.Nilanjana Basu,the Vice Principal TJC,proposed the vote of thanks,the day culminated on a sombre note as a two minute silence was observed to mourn the sudden demise of TJC employee Mr.Ramakrishna from BHM,who passed away on Sunday following a cardiac arrest.

National Conference on “Inclusive & Sustainable Growth for Emerging Economies like India”

A one day National Conference (December 9th, 2014) on “Inclusive & Sustainable Growth for Emerging Economies like India” was organized by T John Institute of Management & Science (TIMS). The conference was attended by industrialists, academicians, research scholar and students from all over India. The conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest- Mr. Ganesh Margabandhu(General Manager- Global Technology Service, IBM India/South Asia) , Key Note Speaker- Dr. Charan Singh (RBI Chair Professor of Economics, IIM Bangalore ) , Guest of Honour- Mr. R K Mishra (Chief General Manager, Karnataka Telecom Circle, BSNL) and presided by Dr. Thomas P. John (Chairman , T John Group of Institutions).

The Chief Guest, Mr. Ganesh Margabandhu, addressed on issues like inequality in earnings and high cost of living. He did mention that job creation and direct economic activity can fuel inclusive growth in India. The key note speaker, Dr.Charan Singh spoke on growth scenario of India, monetary policy framework, fiscal policies of India, rising unemployment, high inflation and the future trend of India in Inclusive and Sustainable growth. The Guest of Honour, Mr. R.K. Mishra addressed on how mobile networking and information technology can contribute in upbringing the theme of conference. Dr. Thomas P.John spoke on importance of education system and role of youth in inclusive and sustainable growth.

The conference then continued with paper presentations by delegates that were grouped into four tracks. The Track1- Challenges in Global and Indian Economy, was lead by The Chair person –Dr. Sudhakar, (Principal, Suranacollege) and moderator Dr. Md. Imrozuddin (Associate Professor, Koshys Institute of Management Studies) with 14 participants. Track2- Challenges in Accounting and Finance was lead by Chair person- Dr. Latha Krishnan (Director, Dayananda Sagar) and Moderator- Mr.Laxman Rao (Assistant Professor, TIMS) with 11 paper presenters. The Track 3- Challenges in Communication and Information Technology, was lead by chairperson- Dr Cynthia Menezes(Associate professor, CBSMS) and moderator Mr. Somenath Nag (Director of ISV & Enterprise solutions in AltenCalsoft Labs) with 19 participants. The Track4- Challenges in Business Management was piloted by Chair person Dr. SucharitaBanerji (Director & professor – BHM, T john College) and moderator Ms. Priyanka Chakraborty (Assistant Professor, TIMS) with 22 participants.

The conference concluded with valedictory session with felicitation to the session Chair- Dr. Shikha Tiwari (Principal, T John College). During the session the moderator of each track presented the report of their respective tracks.MsAnnuFransis ,KristuJayanthi College, was awarded bestpaper presenter in the conference.

TIMS appreciates the effort of all teaching and non teaching staff and students of TIMS in making this conference a success.

TITANOMACHY 2014 – The Management Fest , TJC

TITANOMACHY 2014 , is a National Level Management Fest conducted by Department of Management Studies, T John College, Bangalore, on December 2nd and 3rd, 2014 .The fest was overall a big success and brilliantly planned and executed with high coordination and accordance with the students and faculty members. Professional expertise and efficiency was seen all around. It was inaugurated by our honourable Chairman, T John’s group of Institutions, Dr. Thomas P John on December 2nd followed by welcome speech by Prof. Mohini Bhat, Head of Management Department. There was a Fusion show and a classical dance performance on the Inauguration Day.

Basically the fest had 5 events, which is HR, Marketing, Finance, Business quiz and IT. The shortlisted winners from all the 5 events got a chance to compete for Best Manager round, which was the dream come true for all the participants in TITANOMACHY 2014. The competition spirit and energy evolved in and around all the events were outstanding and really appreciative. The campus was filled with students from more than 20 colleges (more than 100 students) and it was a big platform for all PG students to perform, learn and succeed.

By first half of December 3rd, all the events were ready with the shortlisted candidates for Best Manager Round, which happened in the T. John auditorium from 1.30 pm to 3 .30 pm. By 4 pm, cultural programmes started, which included dance performance, songs etc. Prize distribution was done by Dr. Shikha Tiwari , Principal along with Vice Principal and HOD, Depart of Management Studies . CMS College won the much awaited Best Manager Position. All the participants were given participation certificates and the first position winners from each events got prizes and gifts worth Rs.3000 and the winner of Best Manager got a foreign trip, a tour package as prize to Malaysia/Thailand/Nepal. Finally the program got over successfully by 5 PM.
