Street Play on Child Abuse by Humanities Club


On August 13, 2014, members of Humanities Club from B.A Department presented a street play on a recent issue that has gripped people by shock and fear – ‘Child Abuse’. The play was for 7 minutes and it captured the attention of students and staff of T. John College.

The play focused on three types of abuse – mental, physical and sexual. Through this play, students spread the message of standing up against such abuses and encouraged the crowd to speak up and find someone to share their problem instead of hiding them.

TIMS Inaugurated Students’ Club


T. John Institute of Management & Science (TIMS), on 12th August 2014, inaugurated 8 students’ clubs. The program was graced by Dr. Thomas P John, Chairman of T John Group of Institutions, Dr. Bijoy Mishra, Principal of TIMS and Prof. A. Bhattacharya, HOD.

The program involved ribbon cutting ceremony of News Board of Management Club. Student’s coordinators of various clubs presented Vision, Mission, objectives and events planned by their respective clubs.

Dr. Bijoy Mishra addressed the gathering on purpose of starting the clubs and business labs for the students. He as well narrated the story of Mr. Varun Chandran an entrepreneur from Kereala and conveyed a message that everyone should dream and work hard to make the dream a reality.

Dr. Thomas P John marked the occasion with very awe-inspiring aura, an enlightening speech on all-round development of students and designs their career path. He instilled a sense of planning for the students’ careers, with a time-frame based dairy. He motivated them to have wild ambitions, citing example of Bill Gates and the concept of BHAG- Big Hairy Audacious Goal. He also cited the example of U.S. President John F. Kennedy’s goal of making it possible to put the “First man on moon”.

Amidst everything no one can alter the fact that the function was a great success.

TIMS Celebrates Ethnic Day


T. John Institute of Management & Science (TIMS), on 9th August 2014, celebrated a vibrant Ethnic Day in the institute campus.As students from various parts of India as well as the globe study in TIMS, the institute represents a truly multi-cultural environment.

Dr. Bijoy Mishra, Principal, inaugurated the event and Prof. A. Bhattacharya, HOD, thanked all the faculty and students for showcasing such talents in line with Karanataka’s rich cultural heritage – at a time when the entire season is of festive flavor with Varamahalaxmi Puja observed the previous day and a recently celebrated Eid and coming festivals of Independence Day followed by Ganesh Chaturthi.

On this special day, students presented various traditional performances including dance & songs. Abdul, a Nigerian student, enthralled the audience with his Rap song. All faculty members and students came in traditional dresses. The event was uniquely organized at the institute’s lush green lawn and the various ethnic dresses created a pool of colours all around. A competition was held among students to select Miss TIMS and Mr. TIMS, with the best ethnic dresses & overall best performances in the event.

Fresher’s Day 2014 – B. A (JEP)


On August 1st, 2014 III & V Sem BA (JEP) students threw a party for the fresher’s welcoming them to the college. The theme for the event was ‘Back to School’. The celebration was graced with the presence of Principal, Dr. Shikha Tiwari, Vice Principal, Dr. Nilanjana Basu and the faculty members of the Dept. of Languages.

The fresher’s day turned out to be fun filled comprising of exciting games and activities. The award for the fresher of the year was given to Amailisa and the best dressed fresher was given to Issac. The new students felt welcomed to the college and the department and also got an opportunity to bond with their seniors and the faculty members.
