Project EXPO- 2013 by TJIT

Project Expo – 2013, India’s First Campus Show for the final year Engineering Students organized by M/s Globals Research Innovation & Development in association with T. John Institute of Technology, was held with great zeal on 22nd & 23rd June 2013 at T. John Institute of Technology Campus. Hon’ble Minister of IT-BT and Planning & Statistics, Govt. of Karnataka, was invited as the Chief Guest for the event but due to unavoidable circumstances, he was unable to make it for the event. Sri. M. B Jayaram, Chairman Emeritus & Chief Mentor, PRCI was the Chief Guest & the Guest of Honour. Sri S. S Prasad, CEO – M/s GRID, Sri. Dr Thomas P John, Chairman TJGI, Dr. S Padmanabha, Principal TJIT, Dr. G P Prabhukumar, Dean Academics & Retd Wg. Cdr Sambasivam – Campus Director TJGI, were on the Dias along with the Chief Guest for inaugural function.
The event began with an Audio Video Slide presentation about the T. John Group of Institutions & Success Stories of Toppers of 2012-13 batches from various streams of TJIT, Snap Shot about M/S GRID & the CEO of GRID – Sri. S. S Prasad. The Inaugural function was begun with an invocation song by Mrs. Veena Pandit, a renowned Playback Singer followed by lighting the Lamp by the dignitaries on the Dias. The Principal, TJIT welcomed the Chief Guest & the other dignitaries which were followed by the Chief Guest’s speech; The CEO of M/s Grid, Chairman TJGI, Campus Director TJGI, Dean – Academics TJIT also shared their valuable messages for the upcoming Engineers. The Principal with a vision to have project exhibition is to make all the engineers acquire entrepreneurial skills through the application of theoretical & practical engineering knowledge and further enable them to be Job Creators besides being Job Seekers. Soon after the dignitaries’ speech, Project Expo 2013 was started for the students to exhibit their Innovative project works. Participants from various engineering colleges namely PESCE Mandya, Coorg Institute of Tech, Madikeri ,Sahyadri College of Engg, Sreenivasa Institute of Tech, St. Joseph College of Engg Mangalore, Gousia CE Ramanagaram, Sridevi College of Engg Tumkur, GSKSJIT, RRCE, KNSIT, CMRIT, BMSCE, SKIT,

RNSIT, DSCE, BIT, HKBK, AMCEC, KSIT, DBIT Bangalore were few to name who exhibited their projects. Top officials from M/s Jenpact, Mahindra Satyam, One Degree North, IZEE Manpower, Lara Trias Global Career Services, ITC Pvt Ltd, Gati Kwe, Grass Roots and other Consultancies for openings of Accenture, IBM, MPhasis and others.
Project Expo 2013 was divided into three streams – IT Stream (CSE, ISE & MCA), ME Stream (Civil & ME) & Electrical Stream (ECE & TCE). Dr. Chaitanya Kumar – Principal KNSIT, Dr. T N Srinivasan – Principal AMCEC, Dr. V N Kamalesh – Former Director KSOU, Dr. M Puttaraju – Professor, DSCE, Prof. Arvind Rao – Director, HKBK, Dr. Badrinarayan – Principal, MVJCE, Ms. Prajoona Valsalan, Associate Prof, MVJCE are the panel of experts. Three prizes & a consolation prize were identified from IT, ME & Electrical streams respectively. Job Fair & Valedictory function was held on 23rd June 2013 where in Prizes were awarded for the winners of Project Expo.
Under the IT Stream: – 1st prize was awarded to students from AMC College of Engineering for the project title – ‘Intelligent Human Computer Interface; 2nd prize was awarded to students from PES Mandya for the project title – ‘Message bee (android application)’; 3rd Prize was awarded to the students from HKBK college of Engineering for the project title – ‘Intelligent online student mentoring application’ & the consolation prize was awarded to Ms. Simi pursuing VI Sem MCA at TJIT for the project title – ‘Secure data sharing system’.
Under the ME Stream 1st, 2nd & Consolation prizes were awarded to 8th Semester students pursuing Mechanical Engineering at TJIT: 1st prize was awarded for the project title – ‘Leaf Sensor with Data Logger’; 2nd prize was awarded for the project title – ‘Magnetic Coolent filter’; 3rd prize was awarded to students from HKBK College of Engineering for the project title – ‘Conceptual Car’ & the consolation prize was awarded for the project title – ‘Design and Fabrication of a Single Seated Hovercraft’.

Under the Electrical Stream: – 1st prize was awarded for the Project title – ‘Two wheeler Vehicle Security System’, 2nd prize was awarded for the project title – ‘Transition Mechanism for IPv6 Host and Routers’; 3rd prize was awarded to students from KSIT Engineering College for the project title – ‘Development of Wireless Controlled Robotic Palm’ & the consolation prize was awarded to consolation prize was awarded to the students of Dayanand Sagar College for the project title – ‘Breaking Level Indicator and Rating System’. The prizes were rewarded on the basis of the project Innovation & Bona-fide contribution of the team. The prizes were handed over by Sri. S. S Prasad, CEO – M/s GRID, Principal TJIT & Campus Director, TJGI. On the whole, PROJECT EXPO 2013 was a memorable event which will be cherished by every student forever.

Induction Programme for UG students by TJC

The Induction Programme for the UG students was held on 19th of June, 2013 in the BHM Seminar Hall, T. John College. The programme was attended by revered Fr. Eldho, Dr. Thomas P. John, Wg. Cdr. (Ret’d) P. Sambasivan, Dr. Shikha Tiwari, Dr. Nilanjana Basu, HODs of various departments, faculty members, students and their parents or local guardians. The programme began with an address from Fr. Eldho. All the dignitaries participated in the lamp lighting ceremony. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Shikha Tiwari. Dr. Thomas P. John and Wg. Cdr. (Ret’d) P. Sambasivan addressed the students and made them aware of their role and responsibilities as students. A brief introduction regarding T. John College was given followed by various departmental presentations, a presentation on students’ welfare and grievances, club activities as well as on the rules and regulations of the college. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Nilanjana Basu. The programme ended on an optimistic note with the message that students have to make the utmost of the opportunities that are given to them for which they will have to work with great sincerity and dedication.
