2nd National Conference “RATE 2013” on Recent Advances in Technology and Engineering

T. John Institute of Technology held the two day 2nd National Conference “RATE 2013” on Recent Advances in Technology and Engineering on 27th and 28th March 2013 in the College Auditorium. The conference was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. It was aimed at bringing together researchers and experts in various emerging fields of science and technology and also for knowledge enhancement. The conference aimed at covering a broad spectrum of topics, such as wireless systems, mobile computing, cloud and grid computing and artificial intelligence.
Dr. K Ramchand, Chief Controller, R&D, DRDO (Ret’d), Bangalore graced the inaugural function as the Chief Guest. Dr. Shreekrishna Kumar, Director, AICTE- South Western Regional Office and Mr. Ganesh Shenoy, Vice President-HR, HSBC was the Guests of Honour. Dr. Thomas P. John, Chairman, T.John Group of Institutions presided over the occasion. The national conference was held in a series of eight sessions held simultaneously over a period of two days. Academicians, research scholars and students from various institutions nationwide participated in the conference and presented research papers.

ROBO -ZEST By Department Of Mechanical Engineering TJIT


The Department of Mechanical Engineering TJIT has organized a two days robotic workshop ROBO-AUTOMETA of ROBOZEST’13 which is India’s biggest workshop series cum championship in collaboration with Robospecies Technologies Pvt. Ltd on 25th and 26th of March 2013.
The total number participants attended the workshop Is 185. The workshop is live experience for all the participants .The workshop was held for about 7 hours a day and it was with live demo, with hands on experience and ended with competition for all the participants. The top 3 groups were qualified to attend the ROBOZEST’13 finals to be held in August 2013 at IIT Guwahati.

TARANG 2013


Talent Search Event “TARANG-13” was inaugurated at T. John Institute of Technology on March 14, 2013. It was a colorful and vibrant event aimed at showcasing the hidden talents of the students in sports and extra-curricular activities and also providing them a platform to prove their mettle as able organizers, hosts, coordinators and volunteers. The Fest began with an inaugural function which was attended by Wg. Cmdr. P. Sambasivan,(Campus Director, T John Group of Institutions) Dr. S. Padmanabha, ( Principal, TJIT)and Mr. Joseph Vaseegaran, (Administrative Officer , TJGOI).

The first event for Tarang-13 was the classical dance competition. The scintillating performances by the students left the audience spellbound. This was followed by the group song competition and instrumental music competition. After the soothing melodies it was the turn of the Mad Ads teams to keep the audience in splits with their humorous performances. Next was the skit competition where students demonstrated their superb acting skills and also conveyed serious social messages, peppered with lighter moments. Next was the much awaited solo dance event where students performed to foot tapping numbers. Their amazing performances left the audience wanting more. This event was followed by the group dance competition where students gave wonderfully synchronized performances.

The final event for the day was the “TALENT SHOW” where students kept across departments joined together to showcase their talents in the true spirit of unity, which is one of the cornerstones of TJIT’s student culture. The various dance performances by the first year students were the highlight of the talent show. The fashion show which had the stars of TJIT walking down the stage to rocking music was applauded by all. The final year students, who are currently on the threshold of entering the professional world, performed a wonderful dance to a medley of songs.

On March 15, 2013 musical events and sporting competitions were held from 9:00 am onwards. The champions for the various team events were

The students also excelled in various other competitions like chess & table tennis (men & women). The crowds cheered for the participants and encouraged their teams to bring home the honors. The sporting events demonstrated not only the team spirit of the various departments but also gave the students a chance to exhibit their prowess in the various events.

The valedictory function was held at 3:01 pm on March 15,2013. Wg. Cmdr. P. Sambasivan, Dr. S. Padmanabha, & Mr. Joseph Vaseegaran, were the guests at the function. All the departmental heads and faculty members along with the students attended the function and encouraged and congratulated the winners and participants of various events. Faculty members who achieved 100% results for their respective subjects were also felicitated at the event. The event owes its grand success to the hard work and dedication of the cultural coordinator Mr. Narayanaswamy (Associate Professor, ECE Department) & sports coordinator Mr. Govind Kumar (Physical Education Director) and their teams which included faculty members and student volunteers.

The fashion show was organized by the Department of Fashion and Apparel Design, T. John College on 9th March, 2013. It was a ‘Portfolio Presentation’ of the VIth semester students from B.Sc. Fashion and Apparel Design. The talent that was showcased in the show was impressive. The show was anchored by Ms. Varshita, Ms. Minnu George and Mr. Davis who are students of T. John College. There were about 600 guests who had attended the show. There were guests from the fashion industry as well as from the management of T. John Group of Institutions. The programme began at 2.00 pm with a performance by a T. John College band.

The budding designers presented the splendid and contemporary attires creatively designed by them. They had presented their innovative collection in great style under the guidance of Fashion & Apparel Design faculties. During the show the audience was entertained with a unique Sri Lankan dance presented by the Sri Lankan students of T. John College. The judges present in the show judged the designers presenting their collection of dresses. Ms. Hiruni Pereira won the first position and the second position was shared by two participants Ms. Anuththara & Ms.Nathali & again the third position was shared by two participants Ms. Monisha & Ms.Jincy. All the five participants who had won the first, second and third positions were awarded with trophies. The show was immensely successful and received a good response from the audience. The ‘Vote of Thanks’ was delivered by Dr. Nilanjana Basu, Vice Principal of T. John College. The programme ended on a happy note.
